CANADA - VANCOUVER AND SURROUNDING AREA - Capilano Suspension Bridge Park

CANADA - VANCOUVER AND SURROUNDING AREA - Capilano Suspension Bridge Park (****)

Capilano Suspention Bridge and totem poles
Capilano Suspension Bridge has become one of the most popular tourist attraction in Vancouver. It is situated by the Capilano River. Since the park is privately owned, admission rates are quite high (42,95 $ - adult 17-64 years, 38,95 $ - senior 65 +, 33,95 $ - student 17 +, 26,95 $ - youth 13-16 years, 14,95 $ - child 6-12 years, kiddie under 6 year - free).

At first, it was mainly famous, stretching 70 m above the river, 137 m long Capilano Suspension Brigde and representing the First Nations' culture totem poles, that drew thousands of visitors each year. The bridge swings gently, as wandering people step on it. Because of crowds, it's hard to find a moment of reflection. One can admire beautiful views, bearing in mind not to block the crossing. Still it's worth to go on the other side of the bridge and take a relaxing walk in West Coast rainforest.

Capilano Suspention Bridge - view from Cliffwalk
Since 2011, cliffwalk has become another heart-stopping activity. A series of suspended walkways - fixed to the granite walls and partially glassed - give a great opportunity to take beautiful pictures with the suspension bridge in the background.

Treetops adventure, on the other side of the suspension bridge, enables guests to walk through seven suspension bridges attached to eight 250 year old Douglas-firs, which occur only in the West Coast of North America. The viewing platforms fixed in the canopy, without any nails or bolts, are adjustable and accommodate the continuous growth on the trees.

A visit in the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park will take approximately 2 h. It's worth combining with a visit in the Capilano River Regional Park.

There is another popular suspension bridge in the Lynn Canyon Park.
